After starting up "Riverside Canine Center" in 1998, Joan became involved in dog agility and to date has 4 MACH'S (Master Agility Championship) on Target and Sketch, and 5 ADCH'S (Agility Dog Championship) on Sketch, Trace, Player, Epic and Metro (who also has earned his ADCH Bronze). Joan's youngest border collie Fresco will be starting his career soon.

Joan is the instructor for the Companion dog obedience classes, as well as the Beg. 1 thru competition agility classes. Joan is also available for private lessons during the day.

Joan also breeds a few litters of border collies from time to time under the name Wayside Border Collies.

Her dogs are also in training for hunt tests. Three are currently competing at the Master level and the others are at various stages of training. One is just chasing paint rollers.

She admits that she is the proud owner of eight Golden Retrievers. Her husband is a very supportive believer in whatever she does with their dogs. He is even a believer when she tells him they just followed her home.
